After suffering multiple defeats at the hands of Rebel Alliance T2-B tanks, Imperial tank brigade commanders called upon Rothana Heavy Engineering to develop a more powerful version of the TX-130 hover tank, the Saber-class fighting vehicle introduced during the Clone Wars. The 2-M Repulsor Tank answered that need and proved superior even to Rebel T2-B tanks in initial field tests. Unfortunately the 2-M tanks were expensive and hard to maintain and only saw limited use throughout the Galactic Civil War. 2-M Repulsor Tanks come equipped with deflector shields, repulsorlifts, and a rotating laser cannon. They also contain additional power boosters in case the main repulsorlift battery fails. Tank commanders have found another use for the power boosters however and use them to supply additional power to the guns, increasing the tank's damage output for periods of time.
