Ody Mandrell's Podracer Basic Information - Size: 3.76-meter long cockpit; 8.69-meter long engines Manufacturer: Exelbrok Type: Podracer Affiliation: Boonta Eve Classic Associations: Mandrell, Ody In Podracing, many pilots trade off efficiency for brute power, and try to gain as much speed by using the biggest engines possible. Ody Mandrell believed in that philosophy, and outfitted his Podracer with gigantic turbine engines. His strategy backfired during a pitstop, however. The suction power of his engine's intakes sucked in one of his pit droids, crippling his Podracer, and effectively removing him from the race. When a manufacturer proudly includes the acronym XL on its Podracer engines, it wants its clientele to think big. Ody Mandrell's Exelbrok XL 5115 engines were immense, so much so that some critics complain that the Podracer's steering is badly affected by the mammoth thrusters. Ody's desire for pure speed overcame such cautionary observations. To compensate for his reckless manner, Ody upgraded the Exelbrok's repair mechanisms and keeps the craft tuned with his skittish team of pit droids. As witnessed at the Boonta Eve Podrace, however, the giant engine's powerful sucking intake and running pit droids do not mix.
