A common industrial tool found in maintenance sheds throughout the galaxy, a fusioncutter is a handheld cutting torch that employs a high-energy plasma beam to slice through dense metals, duraplast and other reinforced materials. A popular model is the SoroSuub F-187. For cutting through thicker materials, the cutting beam can be adjusted so that it extends up to 20 centimeters long, with a swath up to six centimeters wide or as thin as a millimeter. Its power cell can supply an hour's worth of continuous operation. Improper use of a fusioncutter can be dangerous, as its beam can easily be lethal. However, its limited range keeps it this everyday tool from being employed as an effective battlefield weapon.
