During the Clone Wars, the Techno Union developed all manner of cutting edge combat designs for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Among their contribution were the sleek Techno Union starfighters found on such worlds as Cato Neimoidia and Utapau. Developed by Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies, the Mankvim-814 light interceptor is mass-manufactured by automated factories designed by the Techno Union. The Confederacy established such a plant on Utapau during their occupation of the planet, ensuring a steady supply of aerial defense for their latest of temporary refuges. The Mankvim-814 is simplistic in its engineering -- a central reactor feeds power and plasma to a high-velocity ion-drive. A magnetized rudder vectors the flow of the ion thrust while smaller side thrusters further assist maneuverability. The reactor also powers the twin laser cannons that arm the craft. The factories that produce the fighter do not manufacturer pilot droid brains, so the Techno Union starfighter is not self-piloted. Instead, it includes a cockpit typically manned by a standard B1 battle droid.
