An ancient world long the stuff of spacer legend, Roon is a mysterious planet surrounded by a belt of moonlets, asteroids and other cosmic debris. Roon lies just beyond the Cloak of the Sith nebulosity, a spacer obstruction that has kept the planet isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The planet is tide-locked, causing half of Roon to be spectacular, with emerald continents and sapphire oceans. The other half of the planet is dark and cold, trapped in perpetual night. The Roon Sea covers much of the planet, and frequent storms cause huge whirlpools to suddenly form, posing a danger to ocean-going vessels. Colonists first found Roon by following the trail of the rainbow comets, which pierced the veil of the Cloak of the Sith and pass by Roon on a regular basis. Roon is the source of precious stones -- Roon spice and flame gems are enough to draw the attention of treasure-seekers, but it is the fabled Roonstones that are beyond compare. The fist-sized gems are capable of storing immense amounts of data. The population of Roon is mostly human, with Twi'leks, Duros, Sullustans and Koboks being well represented as well. The wilderness of Roon is populated by banthas, mogos, kalaks, huge shamunaar lizards, rockhoppers and semisentient mudmen. Enormous flocks of mynocks darken the skies during annual migration. Roon's populace is divided among competing provinces that regularly put aside their differences to compete in the Roon Colonial Games. During the early days of the Empire, Tawntoon Province dominated over the rest of the planet, ruled by the unscrupulous Governor Koong. The citizens of Umboo province openly rebelled against Koong's outrages.
