Seen hovering alongside Imperial desert stormtrooper patrols in the dusty corridors of Mos Eisley were these small, sleek probe droids. They are carried by miniature repulsorlifts and their bulbous bodies are packed with sophisticated sensor technology. The Imperial Mark IV Sentry Droid has fairly rudimentary personality programming, with self-preservation instincts that can easily be overridden by commands. This makes the droid useful in dangerous missions, where it can be sent in ahead of troops suspecting an ambush, or dispatched to map an area of hazardous terrain. The Mark IV's forward sensor arrays incorporate electromagnetic, infrared and visible-spectrum receptors as well as a compact holorecording rig allowing it to capture three hours worth of detailed data. The droid's repulsorlifts give it a flight ceiling of 15 meters. One particular Mark IV, IM4-099 (nicknamed "Face") was assigned to the Mos Eisley Militia. The uppity little droid developed an intrusive personality and carefully patrolled the streets of the port town looking for any infractions against local laws. When the droid detected illegal signals from newly installed comm repeaters, Face began harassing an asp worker droid installing the broadcast gear. The asp swatted Face out of the air with a steel-clad fist.
