Movie Information -
Wicket W. Warrick was a loyal, curious and adventurous young Ewok scout when he first met Princess Leia Organa in the forests of Endor's moon. The lone Ewok found a strange offworlder knocked unconscious from a speeder bike accident. Tentatively prodding her with his spear, the jittery scout was surprised to find this strange creature not only alive, but friendly as well.
Galactic historians would be surprised to note that this friendship led the way to an alliance that helped overthrow the Empire. Wicket led Leia to his Ewok village, high in the trees of Endor. There, the Ewok leaders learned of the Galactic Civil War. It wasn't long before the Ewoks pledged their loyalty to the Rebel Alliance, and helped the Rebels in their fight against the Empire. Were it not for the Ewoks, the Rebels would not have been able to infiltrate and destroy the Imperial shield generator complex on Endor. With the generator down, the Alliance Fleet was able to penetrate the second Death Star's superstructure and destroy the station.
Expanded Universe -
Wicket W. Warrick, the great grandson of the legendary Ewok warrior Erpham Warrick, has become a hero in his own time. As a youngster, Wicket had a happy childhood in Bright Tree Village, raised by his parents Deej and Shodu. He lived with his two brothers, Weechee and Widdle (also called Willy), and had a baby sister named Wista.
When the Towani family cruiser crash-landed on Endor, Wicket and his family helped the human children Mace and Cindel Towani find their parents who were captured by the evil Gorax. Wicket and Cindel became very close friends. She began to teach him the basics of the human language that she spoke. Shortly thereafter, Wicket, Cindel and his family were captured by King Terak's evil Marauders who were searching for what they believed to be a mystical power source. Wicket and Cindel escaped, and returned to rescue the Ewoks, along with the human scout Noa and his friend Teek.
Wicket was always in a hurry to grow up. He resented being a Wokling, and not being able to go with the older Ewoks on hunts and expeditions. He was quite happy to come of age at the Festival of Hoods, where he gained his own hood and was no longer considered a child, though adolescence was by no means fairer to the adventurous young Ewok.
Unable to do 'grown up' things, Wicket developed close friendships with fellow youngsters Teebo, Kneesaa, Latara, and even the young Ewok Malani, when he wasn't too busy avoiding her huge crush on him. For a time, Wicket thought of following Teebo's path and became interested in the magical lore of the Ewoks.
Wicket became a pupil of the medicine man Logray, but he lacked the patience and skill needed to become a shaman. When Wicket learned that Logray still practiced the arcane and forbidden Dark Rituals, he spoke out against the medicine man. Logray, in return, had Wicket banished from all Ewok rituals.
Wicket's adolescence was difficult, as he became a loner, often wandering far beyond the village. It was on one of these wanderings that he found and befriended Princess Leia Organa. When the Ewok Elders were contemplating whether or not to assist the Alliance, Wicket gave a stirring speech that helped sway them. Wicket was the first Ewok to see that the Imperial walkers on Endor could be damaged. He witnessed an AT-ST stumble off the deadly Yawari cliffs. He reported this to the village elders as proof that the invaders could be defeated.
After the victory of the Battle of Endor, Chief Chirpa promoted Wicket to the rank of "lead warrior," with Princess Leia overseeing the ceremony. For three days after the Battle of Endor, Wicket busied himself by building a new home in the burnt-out husk of the Imperial garrison bunker. His new home, which he constructed with help of his friends, contained an elaborate hearth made of a gutted AT-ST head. Wicket, a bachelor, began receiving many gifts and proposals from female Ewoks after the Battle of Endor. He would eventually marry his childhood sweetheart, Kneesaa. They would later become joint rulers of Bright Tree Village.
